About The bands
THE CHRISTIANS, THE BLOW MONKEYS PERFORM LIVE IN DUBAI
The Blow Monkeys first album release was in 1982, ‘Live Today Love Tomorrow’. This was their introduction to the wild world of music which offered them many performances and secured them a residency at the Moonlight Club in Hampstead. ‘Digging Your Scene’ gave them the breakthrough they needed; reaching the top 10 singles in both Europe and the USA. Their third album ‘She was a Grocers Daughter’ reached silver status sales upon release, although their single, the duet with Chicago soul/ funk legend Curtis Mayfield, was banned from commercial use due to perceived anti-Conservative lyrical theme. However, they continued on their journey with many more hits and in 1989 RCA released ‘The Blow Monkeys Greatest Hits’ which hit gold! Reuniting in 2007 with all original band members, they released new album ‘Devil’s Tavern’ and a welcome back tour in 2008.
The Blow Monkeys will be performing alongside the illustrious number one band, The Christians.
The Christians also began their career in the 80s. Brothers Garry, Roger and Russel Christian and Henry Priestman on keyboard and guitar, formed the band with immediate success. Their first two singles ‘Forgotten Town’ and ‘Ideal World’ hit the top 20s in 1988. Later that year they released a cover of The Isley Brothers ‘Harvest for the World, with all proceeds going to charity it hit number 8 in the UK charts. With their first three singles reaching the top 40 The Christians were well on their way to stardom. In 1989 they released another charity single “Ferry Cross the Mersey” in aid of those who were affected by the Hillsborough Disaster. This reached no. 1 for several weeks and no. 5 in Germany.
